#5510: StoneRisk® Diagnostic Profile | #5515: UroRisk® Diagnostic Profile
Kidney Stone Disease is a growing problem in the United States. Kidney stones (calculi) are hardened mineral deposits that form in the kidney and can be quite painful. There are many causes for the development of kidney stones and one in fifteen people in the industrialized world will develop kidney stones in their lifetime. They originate as microscopic particles, and develop into stones over time.
- More than one million Americans are hospitalized each year for treatment.
- According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, 50% of those individuals who develop kidney stones will have a recurrence within 5 years.
Introducing StoneRisk® and UroRisk® Diagnostics Profiles
StoneRisk® Diagnostics Profile and UroRisk® Diagnostics Profile provide the physician with a specialized profile that analyzes the specific urinary constituents that are responsible for, and contribute to, kidney stone formation.
They feature a unique and patented urine collection and preservation system and use precise reference methods to provide consistent diagnostic information. The information derived from these profiles can be useful in diagnosing stone etiology in stoneforming patients.
StoneRisk® and UroRisk® Diagnostics Profiles consist of four basic critical parts:
- The urine collection kit
- Measured urine constituents (including laboratory analytical methods)
- Calculated values for relative supersaturation (RS)
- Computer-generated graphic test report
Clinical Utility
StoneRisk® Diagnostic Profile is for stone formers with a positive urine culture indicating urinary tract infection (UTI), also for recurrent stone formers or when attending physician deems it medically necessary for the patient to have comprehensive metabolic evaluation.
UroRisk Diagnostics Profile
UroRisk Diagnostic Profile is recommended for initial and recurrent stone formers and for monitoring patient progress and compliance to therapy.
