General marker for severe renal damage associated with Wegener's granulomatosis, microscopic polyarteritis, and Goodpasture's syndrome. PR-3 is the major target antigen of antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) which give a cytoplasmic (C-ANCA) immunofluorescence pattern.
