Malt is derived from Barley (Hordeum vulgare) by the controlled germination of raw grain followed by heat application to create a flavored powder. The product is used in the production of vinegar, brewing of beer, and distillation of liquor. Malt also serves as a nutritious additive to a great variety of foods. Since F90G allergen is IgG specific, the result must not be used for the diagnosis of allergic or atopic disease states. The use of this food specific allergen IgG result should be restricted to the assessment of response to therapeutic interventions.
