Troponin I is measurable within 4-6 hours after acute MI; the peak concentration is reached in 12-18 hours. Elevations in Troponin I can persist for up to 2 weeks following an acute coronary event. Troponin T frequently appears in serum as early as one to three hours after the onset of myocardial infarction and remains elevated for 10-14 days.

Remove serum from cells and freeze as soon as possible. Minimize
exposure to room temperature.

Patient Preparation:
Dietary supplements containing biotin may falsely elevate Troponin I
values. Samples should not be taken from patients receiving therapy
with high biotin doses (i.e. > 5mg/day) until at least 8 hours
following the last biotin administration.
