ALTERNATE

Nickel toxicity is associated with allergy, asthma, urticaria, erythema multiforme, contact dermatitis, and hand eczema.

7 mL aliquot of a well mixed 24 hour urine collected in acid washed
or metal free container (3 mL minimum).
Avoid worksite collection. Collect urine in acid washed or metal free
plastic container.

Collect urine without preservative. Do not use powdered gloves when
aliquoting specimen.

Patient Preparation:
Patient should refrain from taking mineral supplements at least three
days prior to sample collection.

If a non-trace element tube/container is received, it will be accepted for testing. However, elevated results shall be reported with a message that re-submission with a trace element tube/container is recommended.
