HCV Genotype, LiPA(R)

PRIMARY
1 PPT Potassium EDTA(white) 2 (0.6) mL   Frozen - 42 Day(s)/Room Temperature - 72 Hour(s)/Refrigerated - 14 Day(s)
ALTERNATE
  Serum 2 (0.6) mL   Room Temperature - 72 Hour(s)/Refrigerated - 14 Day(s)/Frozen - 42 Day(s)
  Plasma EDTA 2 (0.6) mL   Room Temperature - 72 Hour(s)/Refrigerated - 14 Day(s)/Frozen - 42 Day(s)

Hepatitis C genotype is a predictor of response to interferon alpha-2b (non-type 1 are better responders) and to combination therapy with interferon and ribavirin (all types respond but dosage and duration of treatment is dependent on genotype; type 1 requires extended treatment).

Separate serum or plasma from whole blood within 24 hours of
collection by centrifugation at 800-1600 x g for 20 minutes at room
temperature. Transfer the plasma to a properly identified, sterile,
polyproprylene screw-cap vial and ship refrigerated or frozen.
