Lactate Dehydrogenase (LD) is an enzyme that is present in many different organs and tissues. LD Isoenzymes (LD1) are useful in distinguishing the different isoenzymes expressed differentially in tissues and organs, e.g., cardiac muscle, skeletal muscle, and liver.

Centrifuge serum specimens within 1 hour of collection, transfer
serum to clean, plastic, screw-capped vial(s), and send at room
temperature to the laboratory. Do not refrigerate or freeze
specimens.
