Antibodies against myelin are found in multiple are found in multiple sclerosis and other neuroligical diseases. However, the diagnostic value of this serum antibody is controversial, as high titers in healthy subjects can also be detected. Antibodies against myelin-associated glycoproteins are present at times with Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Serum specimens should be collected under aseptic condition.
Hemolysis should be avoided through prompt separation of the
serum from the clot.

Reject Criteria: Gross hemolysis; lipemia; specimens with visible
particulate matter; serum separator tubes.
