Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used in the treatment of gram-negative bacterial infections, especially Pseudomonas, Proteus, Klebsiella and also Staphylococcus. Tobramycin is potentially nephrotoxic and ototoxic and serial monitoring of peak and trough serum levels may provide the clinician with information to maintain safe and therapeutic levels.

Collect as a trough just before next dose. Collect peak 30 minutes
after end of IV infusion of 60-90 minutes after IM dose. Serum
separator tubes are not acceptable. Moderate to grossly lipemic
specimens will be rejected. Transport at room temperature.
