ALTERNATE

Nickel toxicity is associated with allergy, asthma, urticaria, erythema multiforme, contact dermatitis, and hand eczema.

7 mL random urine collected in acid washed or metal free container
(3 mL minimum) Avoid worksite collection. Collect urine in acid washed
or metal free plastic container.

Patient should refrain from taking mineral supplements for at least 3
days before sample collection. Wash hands before sample collection.
Wipe hands dry with lint-free paper towels. Do not use recycled paper
towels. For clinical monitoring, collect second voided a.m. urine.
Use powderless gloves to pour sample into acid-washed, metal-free,
transport container, if needed.

Patient Preparation
For clinical monitoring, collect second voided A.M. urine. For
industrial monitoring, collect urine preshift. Patient should refrain
from taking mineral supplements at least three days prior to sample
collection.
