The quantitative culture isolates and identifies significant pathogens responsible for urinary tract infections.

1. Source of specimen is required, please include on requisition.
2. Acceptable specimens: Clean catch, catheter, suprapubic
Unacceptable specimens: Pooled 24 hr urine, urine stored
ambient, frozen
3. Ship specimen on cold pack within 24 hours of collection. See
"Guidelines for Shipping Infectious Substances."
4. Refer to Appendix B for detailed collection instructions.
