ALTERNATE

Covers all major Chlamydia species. Recent or current infection is indicated by a rise in specific IgG (or total Ab) or by the presence of specific IgM. An IgG antibody titer greater than 1:512 by IFA suggests acute infection. Because cross-reactions with chlamydial group antigens occur, elevated titers to C. psittaci must be interpreted in the context of the clinical presentation.
