The OxLDL test may be ordered for individuals at low or intermediate risk of metabolic syndrome or cardiovascular disease. In addition, this test is useful in individuals who have cardiovascular disease and are at risk for an adverse cardiac event.

Plasma:
1. Gently invert 8-10X (DO NOT SHAKE!).
2. Centrifuge for 10 min.
3. Aliquot top layer from lavender top draw tube and place PLASMA into
transport tube and dispose of draw tube. Label the transport tube as
EDTA plasma. ONLY ship plasma in transport tube.
4. Store and transport refrigerated.

Serum:
1. Gently invert 5X (DO NOT SHAKE!).
2. Let blood clot for 30 min. at room temperature.
3. Centrifuge for 10 min.
4. Store and transport refrigerated.
