The detection and identification of specific viral nucleic acids from indviduals exhibiting signs and symptoms of respiratory infection aids in the diagnosis of respiratory viral infection. The respiratory virus panel is used for the detection of the following respiratory viruses: Adenovirus Influenza A Influenza A Subtypes H1 Influenza A Subtypes H3 Influenza B Parainfluenza 1 Parainfluenza 2 Parainfluenza 3 Rhinovirus/Enterovirus Metapneumovirus Respiratory Syncytial Virus Subtype A Respiratory Syncytial Virus Subtype B. The results of this assay should be USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER CLINICAL AND LABORATORY FINDINGS.

Instructions: Swab must be sterile dacron, nylon or rayon with plastic
shafts. Place swab in sterile viral transport media containing protein
stabilizer, antibiotics to inhibit bacterial fungal growth and buffer
solutions (e.g. UTM, VCM, M4, M4RT intended to transport chlamydia,
mycoplasma or viruses).
Other Transport Container: V-C-M medium (green-cap) tube or
equivalent; M4 or M4RT
